MenMap Impact

The MenMap project aims to address the significant burden of bacterial meningitis in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by establishing a surveillance network for invasive bacterial diseases (IBDs). By collaborating with regional partners and leveraging global expertise, MenMap seeks to improve diagnosis, strengthen epidemiological surveillance, and support the implementation of national reference centers for key bacterial meningitis pathogens. Through real-time PCR technology and standardized protocols, the project aims to enhance etiologic confirmation, inform vaccination strategies, and generate critical data to guide decision-making. Secondary objectives include identifying serogroups, estimating incidence rates, evaluating treatment impact, and documenting clinical outcomes, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of IBD epidemiology and management.
